Giants bring back All-Star closer Camilo Doval after Triple-A stint

The San Francisco Giants returned closer Camilo Doval to the active roster Saturday after a demotion to Triple-A Sacramento earlier this month and optioned right-hander Landen Roupp to Sacramento.
Doval was sent down on Aug. 9, one day after the right-hander had his fifth blown save of the season.
Doval, 27, had 5.9 walks per nine innings with the Giants this season, well over his career mark of 4.1. He was 4-1 with 22 saves and a 4.70 ERA, which also was well over his career mark of 3.18. An All-Star last season, Doval went 6-6 with a 2.93 ERA in 2023 and National League highs with 39 saves and 60 games finished.
In five appearances at Sacramento, Doval was 1-0 with a 3.18 ERA and had seven strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.
Roupp, 25, made his major league debut on March 29 and had a 4.70 ERA in 15 relief appearances this season.
