Giants QB Daniel Jones to start vs. Texans

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is expected to start the team's next preseason game, coach Brian Daboll announced Sunday.
Jones will be under center as the Giants battle the host Houston Texans on Saturday. The game action will be Jones' first since he sustained a torn ACL in New York's 30-6 setback to the Las Vegas Raiders on Nov. 5.
Jones sat out the Giants' preseason opener, a 14-3 win over the Detroit Lions on Thursday.
Drew Lock is nursing both a hip injury and an abdominal strain, however Daboll said Sunday that they don't intend to add another quarterback to the mix. Quarterback Tommy DeVito also is on New York's roster.
Signed a four-year, $160 million contract in the 2023 offseason, Jones threw two touchdown passes and six interceptions in 2023. He also missed three games with a neck injury.
Jones, 27, is 22-36-1 as a starter with 62 touchdown passes and 40 picks in 60 games (59 starts) since being selected by the Giants with the No. 6 overall pick in 2019 NFL Draft out of Duke.
