Greek Basketball Fans Set Fire Inside Stadium After Advancing To Euroleague Final Four
This is how fans of professional sports teams burn something down. Take note, Kentucky. For some back story, lets take a look at the AP writeup, in its entirety, by someone who clearly did not attend the game.
Guards Kyle Hines and Vassilis Spanoulis scored 19 points apiece Friday to lead Olympiakos to a 76-69 victory over Italy's Montepaschi Siena and a berth in the Euroleague Final Four.
Guard Nikos Zisis and forward David Andersen scored 15 each for Siena.
Olympiakos won the best-of-five series 3-1 to join Barcelona and CSKA at the Final Four, to be played in Istanbul on May 11-13. Panathinaikos and Maccabi Tel Aviv are tied at 2 games apiece with the decider to be played in Athens next Thursday.
The match was tied at 61 with less than five minutes to go, but Olympiakos used an 8-0 run to take the lead for good. Siena closed to 72-69 on three free throws from Zisis 59.5 seconds from time but could get no closer.
It's the sixth Final Four trip for Olympiakos.
