Here's A Shitty Way To Lose A Shutout
Photo credit: Mark J. Terrill/ [object Object] Clayton Kershaw, who is 7-2 with a 2.04 ERA and remains the best pitcher in the league, had his best start of the season last night. He pitched nine innings against the Cardinals, allowed three hits and just one run, and struck out 10 batters in just 104 pitches. It was a marvelous outing, and it ended in a way that probably had Kershaw wanting to eat his shoe.
Randal Grichuk led off the top of the ninth with a single to center, and moved up to second after Tommy Pham hit into a fielder’s choice. With the Dodgers up 1-0, Kershaw only had to retire Dexter Fowler and Stephen Piscotty to lock down the complete game shutout. That’s when this happened:

Anyway, Kershaw finished the inning and the Dodgers won 2-1 in 13 innings.
