Here's A Wonder Goal From Newcastle's Papiss Cisse
This happened just before halftime of today's English Premier League tie between Southampton and crypto-French side Newcastle United. Newcastle goalkeeper Robert Elliot had hoofed a freekick from deep inside his half 60 yards down the field. It was a pretty pedestrian long ball to flip the field of play until Southampton left back, 17-year-old Luke Shaw, misjudged the flight of the kick, and the ball bounced into the path of charging Newcastle forward Papiss Cisse.
It was around this time that Cisse looked up, saw Southampton goalkeeper Artur Boruc firmly on the goal line, ostensibly thought fuck it, which he's prone to do, and smacked the ball on a half volley from his right foot that dipped over Boruc before hitting the back of the net. It's one of the best goals of the year, though probably not one of the best goals of Cisse's career, because he kind of does this a lot. That, y'all, is what we call a banger.
