Here's Chad McGhee With Your Weekly Knox City Greyhounds Update
Saddled with an opening week loss that was blamed on referees and/or improper footwear, the Knox City Greyhounds needed something big to happen.
What they didn't need to see was the Ira Bulldogs beat the Greyhounds JV 58-12 at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity team getting pasted 70-38 by the same Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. But that's what last week was.
"Ira was really advanced, they were more skilled, which sucks to say," noted Big Greyhounds Fan Chad McGhee. "One of our guys got chopblocked, twirled up in the air pretty high and got a sprained shoulder when he landed. Thing is, we played our best game."
Ever the optimist, our dearest Chad.
"We fought like warriors on the gridiron. Their running game was just the best we've ever seen. They were running like lightning bolts," he continued. "We just couldn't get anything going, neither team could for a lot of the game, until BOOM."
On the bright side, Chad believes his 0-2 Knox City boys will destroy the Rule Bobcats AT Bobcat Stadium on Friday night. Rule's also 0-2, having lost 52-7 and 84-38 in two away games.
Asked to breakdown the upcoming NFL season, Chad admitted that he's been so busy training for his upcoming charity wrestling match against Coach Steele that he didn't realize the lockout had ended. He's a Cowboys fan, though.
"I'll root for 'em like I do every year until they let me down," he said, pining for the Aikman/Smith/Irvin days of old. "Ever since Aikman, they struggled with quarterbacks, just never found their groove. I have high expectations though. As we say every year, this is our year. They used to be America's Team. I wonder if they've lost it."
Perhaps we'll never know. But, Chad is considering a video shout-out to the Boys, so maybe that'll help.
