Here's How Four Broadcast Teams Described The Orioles Streaker On Friday
The ad hoc policy to not televise fans who run onto the field during baseball games is intended to discourage copycats, though its effectiveness is debatable at best. Yet while viewers may be blind to the rogue fan's activities, announcers can't resist providing their own take on the action.
Friday's Batman-themed streaker in Baltimore was fortunately captured for our amusement by several fans wielding camera phones, and so we've synced several angles up with the Twins' & Orioles' radio & TV broadcasts—which range from Gary Thorne's indignation to the Twins' radio team joke-cracking. (Be sure to watch Minnesota's dugout when the fan is finally tackled.)
Video from MASN and Fox Sports North. Radio from WBAL & TIBN. Streaker video from YouTube users Seemarkrun7, alexlombardi22, & ovifan8.
