Hey Look, Real Madrid Might Choke The Champions League Away
Last week, Real Madrid played German side Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal. The result was a smackdown, and Madrid beat Dortmund 3-0 to more or less lay this tie to rest. Right? Nah.
The second leg of the match is in progress right now, and at half, BVB are leading the Spaniards, 2-0. And that's because Madrid are really, really fucking up.
In the first goal, above, Madrid center back Pepe tried to head a hopeful Dortmund long ball 25 yards back to his own keeper on 24 minutes, but instead headed it directly into the path of Marco Reus, who rounded keeper Iker Casillas and passed it in the net. Reus a second when Dortmund countered off a terrible Madrid giveaway in the middle of the park.
Real Madrid also missed a penalty when a Dortmund player handled it in the box.
If Dortmund can make it 3-0 after 90, the match goes to extra time. If Madrid score, the Germans and last year's runners-up will need to score five total to advance. Let's see what goes on.
