High School Basketball Team's Bus Flips Over On The Way To State Championship Semifinal [UPDATES]
via [object Object] Scary news out of Indiana this afternoon, as the Griffith Panthers’ boys basketball team was on their way to the state semifinal game against Marion, when their bus flipped over near DeMotte.
So far, no major injuries have been reported, but the circumstances of the crash are still murky.
The game has (obviously) been postponed by the IHSAA.
The Times of Northwest Indiana had a photographer on the scene and they have reported that the crash took place around 12:30 Central Time. We’ll update this post when more information becomes available.
Update (5:30 p.m.): It appears that most everyone is okay, per the . Griffith’s freshmen coach David Garrett has been airlifted to Chicago, but everyone was able to get out of the bus.
Everyone traveling on the bus was taken to one of three nearby hospitals — Methodist Hospital Southlake Campus in Merrillvllle, Franciscan Health in Rensselaer and Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee. Freshman boys basketball coach David Garrett was originally taken to Riverside, but was later airlifted to University of Chicago Hospital.
