High School Football Player Dies From Injury Suffered While Making A Tackle
Seventeen-year-old Kenney Bui, a senior at Evergreen (Wash.) High School and a defensive back on the football team, died today from injuries suffered while making a tackle during a game on Friday.
KING 5 reports that the injury occurred when Bui made a tackle in the fourth quarter of Friday night’s game against Highline High School, and according to a KING 5 source he “suffered a traumatic brain injury.” He was immediately taken to Harborview Medical Center by ambulance, but it was too late.
Bui wasn’t the only Washington high school football player to suffer a traumatic injury Friday. The Seattle Times reports that Adna High School (about two hours south of Seattle) senior David Young suffered a neck fracture while making a tackle in a game against Napavine High School. King 5 reports that after making the tackle, Young ran to the sideline complaining of neck pain. He is in satisfactory condition.
