How In The World Could These Guys Ever Lose?
This image was lost some time after publication. The boys pictured here are not, in fact, the 2007-08 freshman recruits for Northwestern; actually, they're the Ohio State-Marion Scarlet Wave, who not only own one of the sillier team nicknames we can remember — what is a "Scarlet Wave," exactly? — but are also the team that lost 201-78 last weekend to Lincoln University. Looking at the team now, it's not all that difficult to see why; they're 3-10 on the season, which makes us feel awful for their vanquished opponents, particularly Ohio Dominican University, whom the Scarlet Wave hammered by 45 points earlier this year. (That team must have kittens for point guards.)
One of the best parts about the blowout was that the Scarlet Wave only had six players dressed. We don't want to sound cocky, but we bet you could put together 10 random Deadspin readers and beat six of these guys. We think it's very possible, as long as we could figure out the zone.
