Important Nick Young Update: Nick Young Is No Longer Afraid Of Dolphins

In the far off days when Nick Young was still on the Lakers and Iggy Azalea was relevant, we learned of Swaggy P’s delfiniphobia, which apparently stemmed from an attempted drowning by one of the majestic sea creatures while on vacation with his then-girlfriend Azalea in Cabo. From ESPN:

“He was playing with everybody else, doing what dolphins do — the ‘ack ack’ and all that,” Young said. “It was my time to ride the dolphin. For some reason, he took me all the way to the bottom. He was trying to drown me. But I saw it happening so I jumped out of the water and took off the little life vest and threw off my little water shoes and stayed outside.”

Young said the dolphin took others around in circles but didn’t do the same when it was his turn to interact with it.

“He went straight down,” Young said. “He was trying to kill me. I think he was trying to get on Iggy. He was a little friendly, kissing her and stuff. He was trying to take my woman.”

(It’s strangely fascinating to reiterate that this story sounds really similar to a Kevin Hart joke, which either means Young took some of Hart’s material for a story or dolphins are way scarier than I thought.)

Alas, years later, dolphins no longer fly into a jealous rage at the sight of Young, and the result is something much more adorable: this Iggy-less photo, from what could very well be the same resort in Cabo. If you ask me, Young still looks a little freaked, but at least both mammals are smiling and neither appears murderous.
