Inter Milan Spot Chelsea An Astounding 50-Yard Own Goal, Win Anyway
Here is one hell of an own goal, from Geoffrey Kondogbia of Inter Milan:
Kondogbia is challenged for possession of a listless pass near midfield and appears to panic, wildly overpowering the pass back to his keeper. The crowd noise is awesome, as the ball floats back and keeper Daniele Padelli retreats, rising before the ball even enters the 18-yard box, then rising again as it crosses into the six-yard box, then finally erupting when the ball finds the net.
Inter nearly had an earlier own goal when Padelli mishandled a pass in front of goal in the 38th minute and the ball trickled just wide of the post for a corner. They survived these blunders—the own goal was the only goal scored by Chelsea, and Inter took the match 2-1.
