It's Enough To Make You Want To Hug Damon Jones
I don't know if it's enough to erase the pain of Jordan-over-Ehlo or Earnest Byner's fumble, but last night had to be the best Cleveland sports fans have felt since ... well, since the ping-pong balls bounced their way and they won the right to draft LeBron James.
It wasn't LeBron's scoring that killed the Pistons last night — the Pistons were determined to not allow that — it was that of Daniel "Boobie" Gibson. Cavaliers not named LeBron were left constantly alone, and Gibson cashed in the hardest: 7-of-9 shooting, including 5-5 from 3-point land, and 12-of 15 from the free throw line. LeBron, facing at least two defenders all night long, still finished with 20 points, 14 rebounds, and 8 assists.
So, starting on Thursday night, it'll be the Cavaliers and Spurs about whom the Pussycat Dolls will sing. An exciting match-up? Depends on what you're looking for. If it's star power you want, LeBron James vs. Tim Duncan certainly qualifies. But if it's high scores you want ... I hope you can settle for star power.
