Jackie MacMullan Strongly Believes Rajon Rondo Wants Out Of Boston
When Chris Broussard says the Celtics want to trade Rajon Rondo, he's talking out of his ass. But NBA writer Jackie MacMullan's a different story.
ESPN's Around the Horn uploads "Behind the Horn" clips—footage during breaks in the show—to YouTube. Jay King of MassLive was tipped off to one from August 27, when MacMullan made an appearance. Frank Isola starts talking about Rondo maybe being the next big NBA player to switch teams after Kevin Love went to the Cavaliers, and MacMullan shares her belief that Rondo wants to leave the Celtics.
"It will happen because he's told them he wants out, and no one believes me but that's the truth," MacMullan said. "And I don't see how you get 80 cents on the dollar for him. Tell me where."
MacMullan runs through a few possible teams with the panel, at one point mentioning a Kings trade involving the Kings, Isaiah Thomas and Ben McLemore, though J.A. Adande reminds her that Thomas went to the Suns. Rondo apparently said he wouldn't sign an extension with Sacramento, anyway. Frank Isola brings up the Clippers, and MacMullan says that even though the Clippers are set at point guard with Chris Paul, head coach Doc Rivers wouldn't want to deal with Rondo again.
"[Rivers is] done with Rondo. I mean, they went a good long way together, but that guy Rondo drives him nuts."
Anyway, it should be a fun fall.
