Jamie Benn scored what proved to be the game-winner on a second-period power play. Oskar Back also tallied for Dallas, which extended its winning streak against the Golden Knights to four games dating back to last season.
The 13-game point streak (12-0-1) ties the second-longest in team history for the Stars, who also had 13-point runs in 1999-00 and 2000-01. The team record is 15 games set in 1998-99, when Dallas went on to win the Stanley Cup.
Jack Eichel scored for Vegas, which took its third straight loss and its sixth in the past seven games.
After the teams combined for just seven shots on goal during a physical, tight-checking, scoreless first period, Eichel gave the Golden Knights a 1-0 lead at the 1:31 mark of the second period. He ripped a wrist shot from the left circle past Oettinger's blocker side.
Dallas tied it midway through the period when Back backhanded a bouncing rebound of a Colin Blackwell shot into the top left corner of the net.
The Stars took a 2-1 lead with a power-play goal by Benn at 14:16 of the second. Wyatt Johnston's shot in the slot fluttered into the air and Benn, stationed by the right post, reached out and batted the puck over Hill's shoulder.
It marked the 10th straight game that Dallas scored a power-play goal, the longest streak in the NHL this season.
Dallas appeared to take a two-goal lead midway through the third period when Jason Robertson knocked a Mavrik Bourque pass into the net, but the goal was quickly waved off because it was ruled Robertson made a kicking motion to direct the puck.
Vegas pulled Hill for an extra attacker with 1:50 remaining, but Oettinger turned away a pair of shots to seal the win for the Stars.
