Mandatory Credit: Jerome Miron-Imagn Images Jason Robertson scored two goals and Jake Oettinger made 18 saves to lead the host Dallas Stars to a 4-3 victory over the Vegas Golden Knights on Friday night.
It was Robertson's second multi-goal game of the season. Roope Hintz and Jamie Benn also scored goals and Matt Duchene, Wyatt Johnston and Evgenii Dadonov each had two assists for Dallas, which leapfrogged the idle Minnesota Wild into second place in the Central Division.
Jack Eichel scored two goals, Mark Stone had three assists and Shea Theodore also scored for Vegas, which took its fifth loss in six games. Adin Hill finished with 23 saves.
The two teams traded power play goals during the first period, which ended up tied at 1-1.
A wide-open Eichel gave the Golden Knights the lead at the 4:04 mark with a one-timer from the left circle past Oettinger's blocker side to extend the team's streak with a power play goal to eight games. Hintz tied it with his team-leading 20th goal, redirecting a shot from Dadonov over Hill's right shoulder.
Robertson gave the Stars a 2-1 lead at the 7:31 mark of the second period when he put in a rebound of Duchene's shot inside the left post. Vegas rebounded to tie the game again on a power play goal by Theodore, who slid a wrist shot inside the right post.
Dallas, which outshot the Golden Knights 15-5 in the second period, then scored twice in a 96-second span near the end of the period to take a 4-2 lead.
Benn, who was stationed in front of the crease, redirected a shot from Duchene inside the right post for his first point in seven games. Robertson then slapped in a loose puck from the bottom of the right circle for his seventh goal in seven games and what proved to be the game-winner.
Vegas cut the lead to 4-3 midway through the third period when Eichel, on his knees by the left side of the crease, slapped in a rebound after Brayden McNabb's shot hit the post.
The Golden Knights pulled Hill for an extra attacker with 1:35 remaining and had an excellent chance to tie it with 22 seconds to go, but Oettinger made a highlight-reel glove save on Pavel Dorofeyev's point-blank shot from the right side of the crease.
