Joe Flacco Regrets Buying All Those Uncomfortable Massage Chairs
Photo: Nick Wass/ [object Object] Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco has a reputation for being dull. That word isn’t pulled out of nowhere; his own father used it to describe him. It’s an apt description of a man who once roused up his team at halftime by saying, “Let’s go win a game!”
Maybe this anecdote from the Ravens’ podcast will spice up Flacco’s image. The 6-foot-6 QB was talking about his spending habits when he was asked to name the dumbest purchase with his money. Flacco admitted that he had once bought too many massage chairs while he and his wife Dana were hanging out with tight end Dennis Pitta and his wife Mataya:
“The dumbest thing I bought were … how many did I buy? … I bought a handful of massage chairs a few years back,” Flacco said. “Like the big Brookstone ones that put you all the way back.”

“I was like, ‘What do you guys think? Should I get some of these?’” Flacco said.
“Of course Pitta, he’s the ultimate peer pressure’er, the person who wants you to do dumb things. So he started getting in my ear about doing it. I might have gotten five of them, a couple thousand dollars each.”
Flacco said that he used the chairs “one time” before they collected dust in his basement. “As big as they are, I still didn’t really fit in it.” Since he had no use for his bad investment, he said he ended up giving away the chairs to a Ravens employee. Even Flacco’s screwups are resolved sensibly.
