Joey Chestnut Loses Pot-Sticker-Eating Contest, Tarnishes Legacy
Competitive eater Joey Chestnut still holds the nauseating record for hot dog consumption, but he was unable to defend another eating title this past weekend in Los Angeles.
At the World Gyoza Eating Championships—gyozas are also known as pot stickers—Chestnut was only able to stuff down 251 gyozas. Matt Stonie, the winner, ate 268 in 10 minutes, breaking Chesnut's 2012 record of 266 gyozas.
The 19-year-old Stonie is from San Jose, also Chestnut's hometown. Unlike the 230-lb. Chestnut, the fourth-ranked eater is tiny, weighing in at 120 pounds. With this upset, could Stonie-Chestnut turn into the grossest rivalry ever?
