Joey Gallo's Dong Might Have Broken Statcast
Photo: Rick Yeatts/ [object Object] Kids stumbling onto the center-field grass to grab a home run ball is a familiar sight in Arlington, but tonight, Joey Gallo denied any fan a potential souvenir. The tall, young slugger destroyed an Erasmo Ramírez pitch and banished the baseball to well beyond Greene’s Hill, all the way out to the office buildings.
Statcast projected that dinger at 456 feet, but when you take into account that dead center is only 400 feet deep, Gallo’s dong certainly looks even longer.
If you don’t regularly watch Gallo, he’s sneakily one of the most fun players in baseball. The Rangers infielder is hitting just .197 on the year and he strikes out in 38.3 percent of his at-bats, but his power is so absurd that he’s still one of Texas’s best offensive threats. This was his 26th dong on the year. He has only 18 singles.
