Jordan Kyrou scored twice for the Blues, who won their third straight game and their fifth in six games.
Colton Parayko, Jakub Vrana and Kasperi Kapanen also scored for the Blues, and Torey Krug and Pavel Buchnevich each had two assists for St. Louis.
Jonas Johansson made 24 saves for the Lightning, who lost their third straight game. They are just 2-4-2 in their last eight games.
The Blues finished the first period strong while outshooting the Lightning 10-8 to take a 1-0 lead.
Parayko put the Blues ahead with 8:51 left in the period by bursting up the middle of the ice and converting a lead pass from Robert Thomas from the left wing.
Both teams suffered multiple near-misses in the period. Tampa Bay's best chance came on its power play when Steven Stamkos made a cross-crease pass to wide-open Brayden Point at the right post.
But Point was unable to tap the rolling puck into the open side of the net.
Kevin Hayes had a clean break-in for the Blues. He made a cross-crease move and reached a backhand shot around Johansson, but the puck rolled along the goal line before Lightning defenseman Nick Perbix swept it out of harm's way.
The Blues had one last flurry in the period's closing seconds, but Johansson slid to his right to deny Krug moving in from the left circle.
St. Louis scored twice in 19 seconds late in the second period to increase its lead to 3-0.
First, Krug made a diagonal outlet pass to Kyrou racing up the right wing. Kyrou broke in to beat Johansson with a move to his backhand.
Then Krug stepped in from the left point to make a cross-ice pass to Vrana, who scored from the right faceoff dot.
Kapanen scored an empty-net goal with 3:58 left to play and Kyrou scored again with 42 seconds left.
