Joshua Jefferson, Tamin Lipsey guide No. 16 Iowa St. past Stonehill

Joshua Jefferson scored 23 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead No. 16 Iowa State to a 96-57 nonconference win over Stonehill on Monday in Ames, Iowa.
Jefferson also had seven assists and four steals for the Cyclones (4-0). Teammate Tamin Lipsey added 23 points, six rebounds and four assists, and Milan Momcilovic put up 16 points. Killyan Toure contributed 11 points, hitting 5 of 7 shots from the field.
Hermann Koffi led Stonehill (1-5) with 16 points.
The Cyclones outrebounded the Skyhawks 35-27 and forced 20 turnovers while only committing seven.
Iowa State led 42-27 at halftime behind 13 points and four rebounds each from Jefferson and Lipsey. Jefferson hit 6 of 8 first-half shots and added four rebounds. Lipsey also had three assists and two steals prior to intermission.
The Cyclones jumped out to a 19-9 lead as Toure scored six points and Lipsey added five.
The Skyhawks fought back, and when Anthony Holden hit a 3-pointer with 6:08 left in the half, the visitors trailed just 29-23.
Lipsey sank a layup to make it 40-27 with 1:29 left, and he added another basket in the final seconds of the period.
Toure and Jefferson both hit 3-pointers to start the second half to give Iowa State a 48-27 lead.
Lipsey kept the run going by hitting a 3-pointer and then a pair of free throws for a 53-30 Cyclones lead.
Momcilovic sank a 3-pointer and followed it with a jumper to make it 58-32.
Jefferson drilled a jumper and made it a three-point play with a free throw for a 61-36 lead with 13:02 left in the game.
Jamarion Batemon gave the Cyclones a 30-point lead on a 3-pointer with 9:28 left.
Dominick Nelson made it 75-41 with layups on two straight possessions.
Jefferson stretched the lead to 80-46 with a free throw, and Momcilovic hit a jumper with 5:31 remaining for a 36-point Iowa State lead.
The margin topped out at 39 points, which was equaled by the final score.
