Kevin Durant is reportedly not frustrated with the state of the Phoenix Suns, according to Kevin Durant
source: Getty Images ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Christmas Day that members of the Suns organization believed that Durant had grown frustrated with the team and their current roster amid injuries to Bradley Beal and Devin Booker. According to Wojnarowski, Phoenix “has got to change soon” in order to right the ship.
Durant has since proven that he is well aware of the report, as well as any fan criticism stemming from it. The extremely online Suns power forward commented on an Instagram video that featured a tweet asking “Has Kevin Durant checked out[?]”
“Woj says somebody else ‘feels’ that I’m frustrated and it turned into me being mentally checked out,” Durant wrote in the since-deleted comment. “This sh*t crazy, these people can flat out lie on my name and make sh*t up and you people will believe it but when my teammates n coaches speak on how I am as a teammate, u ignore it lol.”
The comment, which has since been deleted, comes after Durant finished with 16 points (a season-low), eight rebounds, seven assists and six turnovers in Phoenix’s Christmas loss to the Dallas Mavericks. At the podium, the 10-time All-NBA forward admitted he needs to be better and his turnovers are “holding the team back.”
On the season, Durant is having one of his best offensive years in recent memory. His 30.3 points per game would be the second-best of his career and best since his 2013-2014 MVP season with the Oklahoma Thunder. He is also averaging 5.5 assists per game, tied for fourth-most in his 17 years of play. Durant’s 3.6 turnovers per game would also be his highest since 2011-2012.
At 14-15, the Suns are currently half a game out of the Western Conference Play-In Tournament.
