Kevin Ware Hits His First Shot Back From Injury
It was just seven months ago that we were all staring at Kevin Ware's tibia. But last night the Louisville guard made an unexpected return to the court in the Cardinals' exhibition game against Pikeville, and racked up six points and four rebounds in 10 minutes of action, including this three-pointer on the first shot he took.
Ware wasn't supposed to get into the game, or even be ready for Louisville's season opener on Saturday. He admits he's not yet in game shape, and started the game on the bench wearing his leg braces. But with the game out of hand and 14 minutes left, Rick Pitino walked over to his seat and told him, "let's go."
"I’d been waiting for this moment for 220 days," Ware said. "I honestly thought I would airball my first shot. When it went in, everything went back to normal."
