Kings F Phillip Danault fined $5K for slashing

Los Angeles Kings forward Phillip Danault was fined $5,000 by the NHL on Thursday, one day after slashing Colorado Avalanche forward Ross Colton in their season opener on Wednesday.
The fine is the maximum allowable under the league's collective bargaining agreement.
Danault was not penalized after he slashed Colton at 4:20 of the second period. Danault notched an assist on Carl Grundstrom's goal at 6:18 of the period, helping the Kings on their way to a 5-2 victory over the Avalanche.
Danault, 30, has totaled 305 points (100 goals, 205 assists) in 554 career games with the Chicago Blackhawks, Montreal Canadiens and Kings.
