Knicks star guard Jalen Brunson injured his right ankle five minutes into New York's Wednesday road game against the Sacramento Kings and was ruled out by the team at the start of the third quarter.

The Knicks initially termed Brunson as questionable to return early in the second quarter, but he didn't re-enter the game.

Brunson was dribbling near the 3-point arc when the ankle awkwardly turned with 7:45 left in the first quarter. He fell to the ground and was seated on the floor as he looked to throw the ball and his soft pass was intercepted by Sacramento's Precious Achiuwa.

Brunson attempted to continue to play but was removed with 7:01 left in the period and went to the locker room.

Brunson, 29, had four points before exiting. The two-time All-Star entered the contest with a streak of 18 straight 20-point outings.

The Kings held a 56-42 halftime advantage.
