Lajae Jones tied the program record with 10 made 3-pointers, scoring a career-high 36 points to lead Florida State to a runaway 98-72 defeat of Georgia Southern Friday night in Tallahassee, Fla.

After a nine-point first half, Jones hit three 3-pointers in a 44-second span early in the second half to single-handedly turn an eight-point lead into 15 for the Seminoles (4-1).

He made two first-half 3-pointers before exploding for eight in the second half and finished 10 of 21 shooting, with all of his field-goal attempts coming from outside the arc to blow past his previous career high of 24 points.

Kobe MaGee added 12 points and five rebounds, and Chauncey Wiggins had his first double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 boards.

Shainen Carter led Georgia Southern (3-3) with 14 points, going a perfect 3 for 3 from the floor and 8 of 8 from the free-throw line. Nakavieon White added 13 points and seven rebounds.

The Eagles fought back, though, cutting the deficit to one score six times but never able to get all the way over the hump to take the lead.

After a sloppy four-minute stretch late in the first half when neither team made a field goal, the Seminoles closed on an 8-0 run to take a 40-29 lead into halftime.

Georgia Southern shot 29.2% over the opening 20 minutes and made just one field goal over the final 10 minutes. 11 of its first-half points came at the free-throw line.

Florida State went on a 14-0 run to double its lead to 67-39 with 12:37 left and then another 14-0 run in the closing minutes to grow the lead as large as 38 points before Georgia Southern closed the game on a 14-2 run.
