LeBron James Betrayed Cleveland for Philadelphia and It Won't End Well

LeBron James has shocked the NBA landscape by signing a 2-year $8 million deal with the Philadelphia 76ers. Saying this move is a shock is an understatement, but James and Rich Paul must think this is the best move for the end of his career.

This signing is an absolute slap in the face to the city of Cleveland. He will always be a legend in the city for breaking the curse, but this move might be the worst he’s done to the Cavaliers organization.

Since LeBron needs to make every moment in his life about him, he dragged out his signing for as long as possible, ruining any opportunities Cleveland had to bring in other free agents. He did all of that just to finish his career in Philadelphia?

On paper, this team might be good, but I don’t see how this move doesn’t blow up in flames. First off, trusting Joel Embiid to be the guy to help you win your 5th ring is laugh-out-loud funny. LeBron’s best ability throughout his career is his availability, and he’s partnering with the least available star in the league?

Jaylen Brown wanted out of Boston to lead his own team. He felt this past season was the most fun of his entire career; mind you, he won a Finals MVP before! Jaylen Brown is all about what’s best for Jaylen Brown. All of a sudden, he could reasonably be the 4th option on the Sixers, or they’re planning to ruin any development for Tyrese Maxey.

I think my biggest problem with this move is the lead-up. If LeBron said he was leaving the Lakers and went right to the Sixers, I wouldn’t have any big issues. Instead, he went on a media tour stating that this move would be for happiness and nothing more.

If you were looking for happiness out of a farewell tour, that would come with a return home to Cleveland. Now a new cycle of hate begins for LeBron in Philly. The guy who’s received the most hate in his career is joining the most hateful fans in what will be a year-long tour of hate from the other 29 fan bases in the NBA.

LeBron wants to be seen as better than Michael Jordan, but at every turn he makes the move that would make the most people dislike him. The only fan base that truly defended him at every turn has been Cleveland, and now they are back to hating him once again.

Cameras will be following LeBron all season in a “Last Dance” style documentary, and it will not be the results LeBron wants. This team and season will be an absolute disaster for him, and I can’t believe he would make such a short-sighted move. Then again, fool me once, shame on you; fool me 100 times, maybe you’re just a bad guy.
