Logan Cooley's hat trick propels streaking Mammoth past Blues

Mandatory Credit: Jeff Curry-Imagn Images Logan Cooley produced three goals and an assist as the visiting Utah Mammoth defeated the St. Louis Blues 7-4 on Thursday night for their fifth straight victory.
Clayton Keller posted two goals and an assist, Nick Schmaltz amassed a goal and two assists, and Ian Cole also scored for the Mammoth.
Dylan Guenther and JJ Peterka earned three assists apiece, Mikhail Sergachev had two assists and Karel Vejmelka made 16 saves for Utah.
Pius Suter, Pavel Buchnevich, Nathan Walker and Philip Broberg scored for the Blues, who went 1-2-1 on their four-game homestand. Oskar Sundqvist and Colton Parayko earned two assists each.
Blues goaltender Joel Hofer allowed three goals on just six shots in 7:57 before Jordan Binnington relieved him. Binnington stopped 15 of the 18 shots he faced.
The Mammoth dominated the first period, outshooting the Blues 10-3 while racing ahead 4-0.
Cole struck just 3:18 into the game, connecting off Peterka's drop pass. Cooley made it 2-0 with a slap shot from the slot at 6:07.
After a Blues turnover in the neutral zone, Cooley broke in to increase Utah's lead to 3-0, prompting Blues coach Jim Montgomery to change goaltenders.
The Mammoth made it 4-0 on a power play at 10:55. Guenther deflected Sergachev's shot on goal, and Cooley knocked in the rebound to complete a natural hat trick.
Suter's rebound conversion 5:58 into the second period got St. Louis on the board.
The Blues cut the deficit to 4-2 on a power play at 7:13 of the second. Robert Thomas knocked Vejmelka's mask loose with a shot, and Buchnevich capitalized with his follow shot.
Keller slowed the St. Louis comeback by scoring from the left wing to increase Utah's lead to 5-2 at 19:24 of the middle period.
The Blues pulled within 5-3 at 2:19 of the third period when Walker scored from the right wing. Broberg cut the gap to 5-4 by scoring on a wraparound shot at 5:43, but Schmaltz's power-play deflection made it 6-4 at 9:51.
Keller's empty-net goal at 18:20 iced the game.
