Louisville's Chris Jones Charged With Rape
Louisville guard Chris Jones, who was suspended, reinstated, and finally dismissed from the team in the span of five days, faces charges of raping one woman and sodomizing another. A warrant has been issued for Jones's arrest.
The says that the alleged assaults occurred on Saturday night, hours after Jones played in his return to the team. One of the women was hospitalized, the warrant says, and was able to identify Jones to University of Louisville police.
Jones suspension last week, it was widely assumed, was related to threatening text messages he was accused of sending to his off-and-on girlfriend. (When he was reinstated, coach Rick Pitino called it "a campus situation handled by the University.") The Courier-Journal makes clear that that woman was not one of Jones's two accusers.
Jones is expected to surrender in court this morning. The warrant describes him as a flight risk.
