LSU Baseball Game Interrupted By Baby Opossum
Saturday night’s Arkansas-LSU game suffered a marsupial delay in the seventh inning, as a baby opossum stormed the field and evaded capture by Razorbacks outfielders.
Arkansas player Carson Shaddy was clearly at a loss about what to do in case of sudden opossum arrival, though as a Fayetteville native he displayed a surprising lack of familiarity with the critter. ( Arkansas, after all, is the home of Otey the redneck possum mascot.)
LSU, meanwhile, embraced the animal’s arrival:
It worked! LSU rallied for four runs in the bottom of the eighth and another in the tenth on a walk-off infield single. God help us, we’re going to be seeing this opossum for years.
