Madison Bumgarner's Pitching Hand Is Broken After Getting Smacked With A Line Drive
source: [object Object] In a spring training game this afternoon, Royals second baseman Whit Merrifield smacked a line drive right back at Giants ace Madison Bumgarner and nailed him in his left palm. Bumgarner left the game immediately.
According to several Giants reporters, the liner broke Bumgarner’s hand. He’s the second Giants starter who will not be available to start the season, as Jeff Samardzija will be out for up to a month with a strained pectoral. There’s no timetable for Bumgarner yet, but Bruce Bochy sounds devastated.
Bumgarner missed a few months of last year’s forgettable Giants campaign with a rib injury he picked up while riding his dirt bike.
