Manny Machado Injured His Knee And Everything Is Awful

Orioles do-it-all third baseman Manny Machado was running out an infield hit in the seventh inning of today's game against the Rays, when he stepped awkwardly on the corner of the bag and collapsed in a heap. He was removed from the field on a stretcher.

The O's are 4.5 out of the second wild card, so they needed a miracle, instead of this, the opposite of a miracle. On the bright side, Machado is just 21 and has young, pliant ligaments. On the dark side, Machado is just 21 and has already been ruined forever. (Not a medical diagnosis.)
