Manute Bol Is Not Doing Well
Former NBA giant Manute Bol in serious condition in a Virginia hospital, suffering from kidney failure and something called Stevens–Johnson syndrome. All this because he spent the last several months building schools in Sudan.
According Dan Steinberg, Bol flew into Dulles Airport in Washington last week after a long visit to his native country. Workers at the hotel where he was staying were alerted that he might be ill and had him rushed to a local hospital. Apparently, he became sick while in Africa and the medicine that was given to him led to the development of the Stevens–Johnson syndrome. It is a rare but deadly disease, which causes the layers of the skin to separate, like a burn victim. Ugh.
Now the 47-year-old is in serious condition, though reportedly stabilizing. Oh, and he also extended his trip overseas in order to fight for free elections in one of the most hellish places on Earth. So if there's anyone who doesn't deserve this it's him. Geez ... get better, man.
