Mariners claim LHP Tyler Jay off waivers from Brewers

The Seattle Mariners claimed left-handed pitcher Tyler Jay off waivers from the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday.
Jay, 30, broke into the major leagues in 2024 with the New York Mets and Brewers, nine years after he was selected No. 6 overall in the MLB draft by the Minnesota Twins.
Jay made three relief appearances for the Mets and allowed five runs (four earned) in 4 2/3 innings, good for a 7.71 ERA. He was dealt to Milwaukee in July for minor league pitcher TJ Shook.
In two appearances for the Brewers, he did not allow a run across three innings.
Seattle did not need to make a corresponding roster move. Its 40-man roster is now full.
