Mark Grace Is "A Model Inmate"
Former Cubs and D-Backs first baseman Mark Grace is more than halfway through his four-month jail sentence, garnered for a whole mess of DUIs. But it sounds like he's making the most of it!
Grace is serving his time at Maricopa County's infamous Tent City jail, where he's locked up from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. every day until June 10th.
“It is my understanding Mark is a ‘model’ inmate and does a lot of volunteering with cleanup and other activities,” MCSO spokesman Joaquin Enriquez said Monday. “He is looked up to by other inmates at Tent City.”
Grace was fired as a Diamondbacks broadcaster in August, but hired in February as a minor league hitting instructor just as he began his sentence. Since he's not incarcerated during daytime hours, he works with Diamondbacks prospects during the day before heading back to his tent jail every night. When he's released, he'll become the D-Backs' Arizona Summer League team's hitting instructor.
