Mark Jackson Has Been Fired
As first reported by USA Today's the Golden State Warriors have fired head coach Mark Jackson.
It might seem strange for a coach to get canned after leading his team to two straight playoff appearances, but Jackson's tenure with Golden State has brought much more drama than one would expect to find in a successful organization. There was the demotion of assistant coach Brian Scalabrine, the firing of another assistant coach who was taping conversations, and Jackson's ever-deteriorating relationship with Warriors' management:
The challenge for the Warriors now is to find a new coach that the players will be happy with. Despite Jackson being at odds with management, he never lost control of the team, and just two days ago his players came out in strong support of his coach. They can't be too happy to see Jackson go, so the Dubs better find a replacement that makes them happy. Steve Kerr is out there, and so is Stan Van Gundy, but we can't help but hope to see Mike D'Antoni make his way to the Bay Area. Who wouldn't want to see Klay Thompson and Steph Curry shoot one billion three-pointers next year?
