Markelle Fultz Joins Anthony Bennett On A Very Troubling List
Photo: Winslow Townson/ [object Object] Sixers head coach Brett Brown has reportedly decided that number one overall draft pick Markelle Fultz will start the upcoming NBA season on the bench.
Maybe this has nothing to do with Fultz screwing around with his free throw stroke until it looks like a series of convulsions, and Fultz really did miss a lot of preseason playing time. Still, it’s worth noting that since 2003, the only number one overall NBA draft picks who were healthy enough to play who did not open their rookie seasons as starters were Anthony Bennett and Andrea Bargnani. That is not a group you want to be a part of, at all.
The starting gig, in the meantime, will go to either Jerryd Bayless * or T.J. McConnell. Young Mr. Fultz has not had a very positive start to his NBA career.
