Maryland (12-8, 4-5 Big Ten) is coming off a 69-67 win Wednesday at Iowa that saw Jahmir Young score the go-ahead jumper with 1.7 seconds left. It was the Terrapins' third road victory of the season and second in league play.
"Coming in here we knew we had to fight and that was our mentality coming into this game," said Young, who finished with 22 points, including the final eight for Maryland. The senior guard is second in the Big Ten in scoring at 20.8 per game.
Nebraska (15-5, 5-4) defeated Ohio State 83-69 on Tuesday to improve to 13-1 at home. It's on the road, though, where the Cornhuskers have been a different team, losing all four Big Ten away games with three by double digits.
"We got to find a way to play with the same type of intensity, the same type of grit when we go on the road," Nebraska coach Fred Hoiberg said.
Rienk Mast had a career-high 34 points for the Cornhuskers against Ohio State, hitting six 3-pointers after averaging only one per game over the first 17 contests. The 6-foot-9 junior forward also has five double-doubles and is fifth in the Big Ten at 8.5 rebounds per game.
Maryland is allowing 64.0 points per game, best in the conference, and in league play the Terps are holding opponents to 41.1-percent shooting. They only shoot 40.7 percent in Big Ten games, though, while Nebraska is third in league play in shooting (47.6 percent) and 10th in field goal defense (45.6).
Nebraska is hoping to have junior wing Juwan Gary, who missed the last two games with a calf injury. He is the team's top 2-point shooter at 61.6 percent.
