Memphis Linebacker JJ Russell Carted Off Field After Huge Hit On Kickoff

Kickoffs remain football’s most dangerous play, and today’s UCLA-Memphis game ground to a halt after backup Tigers linebacker JJ Russell appeared to lose consciousness following a crushing blow delivered by an opposing blocker on a kickoff late in the first half.

Russell did appear to be moving as the cart came off the field, but we’ll update this post as any information about his condition becomes available.
