Micah Peavy, Jayden Epps pace Georgetown past St. Francis (Pa.)

Mandatory Credit: Robert Deutsch-Imagn Images Micah Peavy scored 24 points and Jayden Epps added 23 as host Georgetown pulled away from pesky St. Francis (Pa.) 82-65 on Saturday in Washington, D.C.
Malik Mack paired 11 points with seven rebounds for the Hoyas (4-1), who squandered a double-digit lead in both the first and second halves but steadied themselves late to win their second straight game. Peavy had six assists and Epps grabbed six rebounds.
Bobby Rosenberger and Riley Parker each hit four 3-pointers and netted 20 points to pace the Red Flash (2-5). St. Francis went nearly seven minutes without a field goal after taking a 57-56 lead on Parker's final trey with 8:50 left.
Parker's go-ahead bucket capped a 10-0 run, but St. Francis was outscored 26-8 the rest of the way as it dropped to 1-5 on the road.
Epps put Georgetown ahead for good with a 3-pointer that made it 59-57 at the 8:36 mark. Jordan Burks' layup pushed the lead to double digits, and his two-handed alley-oop slam from Peavy made it 71-58 with 2:39 to go.
Rosenberger ended the Red Flash's field goal drought with a layup that cut the deficit to 71-61 with 1:55 left, but the visitors would get no closer.
The Hoyas had a 26-7 advantage in points off turnovers and outscored St. Francis 32-12 in the paint.
Peavy came out hot, scoring eight points as Georgetown sprang ahead 19-4 less than six minutes into the game.
The Hoyas continued to dominate the early stages and held a 12-point lead at the 9:03 mark, but the Red Flash suddenly found their footing and flipped the game on its head.
Rosenberger scored five points during a 10-0 run that pulled St. Francis within 26-24, and Parker later gave the Red Flash their first lead on a layup that made it 34-33 with 1:50 left in the half.
The Hoyas carried a 37-36 lead into the break after Epps' four-point play with 57 seconds remaining.
Epps' third triple stretched Georgetown's lead to 54-44 before St. Francis soon rallied again, with Parker hitting two treys during a 13-2 spurt that slipped Red Flash back ahead by one.
