MLB Makes You Work Hard For Their Money
This image was lost some time after publication. From the useless junk on MLB Auctions department comes this gem: For $1,640 (and counting), the Chicago Cubs will put your ass to work. If you're the winning bidder — auction closes on Friday — you will be "allowed" to work on the grounds crew at Wrigley Field in August, when they play the rapidly disappearing St. Louis Cardinals.
The winner is an "honorary" member of the grounds crew. When we used to work on a crew laying asphalt one summer, we knew a guy who was an "honorary" member of the crew. He was the son of the boss; he sat in the corner and fanned himself. At least he got paid for it.
