MLB Network Beat Fox Sports 1 In Primetime Last Week
The ratings are in: Fox Sports 1 finished its first full week about 1.94 million viewers behind ESPN. Variety reports that Fox Sports 1 averaged 161,000 viewers in primetime, behind ESPN's 2.17 million, ESPN2's 473,000, the NFL Network's 383,000 and MLB Network's 193,000. The good news for Fox is that it did beat the NBCSN (104k) and ESPNU (65k) and the sad NBA TV's 58,000.
Fox also narrowly beat SPEED's ratings at this same time last year—the network Fox Sports 1 absorbed—by 3,000 viewers. Fox Sports 1's average ratings for the entire day was at 81,000, down from SPEED's 100,000 last year. Also, in good news, most people probably missed this panel discussion last week:
“Fox Sports Live,” the FS1 equivalent of ESPN’s “SportsCenter,” averaged about 75,000 for its three episodes that aired in the vicinity of its target 11 p.m. timeslot — just a fraction of the roughly 1.5 million that “SportsCenter” did on those same nights.
