MLB Predictions and Best Bets for Saturday's Biggest Games
The MLB has a busy day ahead as it usually does on Saturdays with a full schedule of games for fans to enjoy and bet on today. But which games are the best ones to bet on? My crystal ball is broken, but after some research, I can say the following are my best bets for the day.
Let’s get started by talking about the Rockies and Brewers (odds via FanDuel).
Milwaukee Brewers vs. Colorado Rockies
UNDER 10.5 at -110
I expect the Brewers to win this game for no other reason than Jacob Misiorowski is on the mound. He surrendered one run in May and allowed just 14 hits across six starts. Yes, the Rockies have been hitting well in recent games (.289 over the last week with 42 runs scored in six games).
But Misiorowski is the best in the business this season. They will not go off on him. However, while the Brewers lineup has been hitting well (.263 with 46 runs over the last week in seven games), we don’t know who the Rockies are starting.
I don’t want to say they can cover the run line without that knowledge. But I don’t think the Brewers will go off for 8-11 runs, and with Misiorowski keeping the Rockies in check, the UNDER is the best bet.
New York Mets vs. San Diego Padres
Mets -1.5 at +134
Mets starter Nolan McLean is capable of throwing good games (3-4, 4.21 ERA, 1.12 WHIP), but while he held the Marlins to two hits and one run in five innings in his last start, he gave up 13 earned runs in his previous two starts. But he is luck today because the Padres can’t hit.
San Diego hit a league worst .173 over the last week, scoring just 14 runs over the last six games. After watching the Mets lineup lead the way in yesterday’s 5-0 win, I’m confident they’ll do just fine against Griffin Canning today (0-4, 7.16 ERA, 1.55 WHIP).
Los Angeles Angels vs. Los Angeles Dodgers
Angels +1.5 at +134
I make this pick with some reluctance because I know the Dodgers are better team, especially when playing at home. They certainly have a pitching advantage with Yoshinobu Yamamoto (5-4, 2.86 ERA, 1.0 WHIP) over Jack Kochanowicz (2-4, 5.23 ERA, 1.48 WHIP).
But I don’t trust the Dodgers lineup to take care of business. They’ve hit just .268 over the last week and scored 29 runs in seven games, but that’s with 22 runs coming in just three games.
The Angels lineup isn’t the most reliable, but they’ve averaged six runs a game over the last week with 5+ in four games. At the prices FanDuel is giving us for the moneyline, run line, and total, this market has the most value.
