MLB Umpires Wearing Wristbands To Protest "Escalating Verbal Attacks"
Photo: David Banks/ [object Object] The World Umpires Association today denounced Ian Kinsler and Major League Baseball for what it describes as a pattern of “escalating attacks on umpires.” MLB umpires will wear white wristbands during games as a form of protest.
You will remember, Kinsler harshly called out umpire Angel Hernandez after Hernandez ejected Kinsler for arguing balls and strikes earlier this week. After the game, Kinsler accused Hernandez of “changing the game” and “ruining baseball games,” and said the umpire should find another line of work. Kinsler was fined for the comments, but the umps want more:
And here is Joe West, wearing a protest wristband just 10 days after he was suspended for a verbal attack on Adrián Beltré.
Truly this is a show of grave disrespect towards the brave men and women who fight to preserve the many freedoms we enjoy in this great nation.
