Mookie Betts Is So Damn Mean To The Orioles
[object Object] Mookie Betts—currently hitting .314/.356/.541 with 31 home runs, 24 steals, and 40 doubles—may very well end up being the American League MVP. If he wins the award, he should thank the Baltimore Orioles during his acceptance speech.
The Red Sox beat the O’s 5-2 in Baltimore last night; they were carried by a stellar outing from Rick Porcello, and dingers from Betts and David Ortiz. Betts’s two-run shot came in the third inning, and his trot around the bases was a depressingly familiar sight for the fans at Camden Yards.
(Mobile users turn phone sideways or click here for video):
That’s the eighth dong Betts has slapped at Camden this season, and the ninth he’s hit in his 16 games against the Orioles. He’s had 26 at-bats in the Orioles’ home ballpark, and he’s hit .500 with a 2.017 OPS (!!!) in those at-bats. I believe that is what we call some extremely rude shit, and it’s the kind of rude shit that doesn’t happen very often:
The Orioles will host the Red Sox for three more games this week, and are four games back of the AL East lead. They might want to consider pitching around Betts for the rest of the season.
