Nate Bittle powers Oregon to convincing win over Omaha

Nate Bittle had 26 points and nine rebounds to lead Oregon to an 80-57 victory Sunday over Omaha at Eugene, Ore., in the last non-conference game of the season for both teams.

The Ducks (7-6) head into the Big Ten schedule winning three of their last four games after losing five consecutive games.

Omaha (7-8) had its four-game winning streak snapped before starting play in the Summit League.

Takai Simpkins had 15 points and Jackson Shelstad added 13 for the Ducks, who had 21 assists to go with only eight turnovers.

It is the fourth straight game the Ducks produced at least 20 assists.

Dezdrick Lindsay had a career-high seven assists.

Simpkins and Bittle combined to shoot 15 of 24 from the field while their teammates were 16 of 44.

Tony Osburn was the only Omaha player to finish in double-figure scoring with 18 points.

Omaha shot 36.8 percent (21 of 57) from the field, including 8 of 26 from 3-point range.

The Mavericks were 7 of 15 from the free-throw line while Oregon was 6 of 13.

The Ducks won the rebounding battle 47-33 and outscored the Mavericks 36-18 in the paint.

Oregon led for all but 21 seconds in the game.

After Omaha took a 3-2 lead in the first minute of the game, Oregon went on a 16-2 run to build an 18-5 lead with 13:06 left in the first half.

A 12-2 run by the Mavericks cut the lead to 20-17 with 8:27 remaining in the half.

That was the closest Omaha would get going forward.

Oregon outscored Omaha 8-2 to end the half and build a 39-29 lead at halftime.

Bittle had 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field at halftime.

Omaha did not get closer than eight points in the second half.

A 3-point play and shot made beyond the arc by Bittle was part of a 9-2 run that enabled Oregon to open a 73-53 lead with 4:02 remaining.

Oregon made seven of its season-high 12 3-point makes in the second half.

Shelstad was 3 of 6 from beyond the arc in the second half. Simpkins also made both of his attempts, and Bittle was 2 of 3 after halftime.
