Matt Coronato and Joel Farabee also scored for the Flames, who moved out of the league basement with a second consecutive win. Kadri added two assists.
Goaltender Devin Cooley, who started consecutive games for the first time this season, made 28 saves through overtime, looming large in the opening frame with 13 stops. He was also big in the final two minutes of regulation while the Flames took a pair of penalties, which also meant an 82-second Dallas 5-on-3 advantage.
Jason Robertson scored once in a two-point game and Roope Hintz added a marker for the Stars. Goalie Casey DeSmith stopped 31 shots through overtime.
Calgary surrendered a two-goal lead in the third period but recovered and came out victorious when Kadri lifted a backhand to complete the deke in the fourth round of the shootout.
Cooley denied Hintz right after to seal the win and cap a wild affair.
After Cooley's heroics in the first 10 minutes, the Flames finally got going and Coronato opened the scoring on the power play at 11:41 by tucking in a close-in chance to run his goal-scoring streak to four games.
Late in the second period, Mikko Rantanen was assessed a boarding major and game misconduct when he drilled Coronato in the back. The Flames forward hit the dasher with his face and went immediately to the locker room. He returned early in the third period with stitches across the bridge of his nose.
Farabee doubled the lead at 1:50 of the third period during the ensuing power play when Rasmus Andersson's point shot ricocheted off Farabee's leg and into the net.
With his assist, Andersson's point-scoring steak extended to four games. He has two goals and five assists in that span.
Robertson finally put the Stars on the board at 6:44, netting his 13th goal of the season and 10th in a six-game goal streak by wiring a shot from the high slot. Robertson is riding a seven-game point-scoring run with those 10 goals and another five assists.
Hintz tied the clash with 3:07 remaining in regulation, lifting a top-corner shot from the slot after receiving a pass from Robertson.
