Netting Falls At Bruins Game, Injuring Two
A section of the netting behind the glass at TD Garden collapsed after the Caps-Bruins game last night, striking two fans and sending them to the hospital with what were described as minor injuries.
According to a reporter, the accident occurred about 10-15 minutes after the game ended, by which time the arena had mostly cleared out. The heavy, solid pole securing the netting is apparently what did the damage. EMTs were quickly on the scene, and both women were treated and taken to Mass. General for evaluation.
Netting at both ends of the rink was made mandatory in 2002, months after the death of a 13-year-old Blue Jackets fan who was struck by a puck that flew into the stands.
