New Battle Cry In The Yankees-Red Sox Rivalry: You Are Hereby Served
A feud that broke out at Yankee Stadium last year between a group of Yankees fans and a Red Sox fan is being resolved in old-school fashion; with the Red Sox fan taking the issue to court. Wait, what? You heard that right, you Bronx ruffians. Let that be a lesson to you.
In a suit filed in Manhattan federal court, Charles Hillios said he was harassed by two Yankees fans who objected to him cheering for the Red Sox last Aug. 29. The Massachusetts resident said in the suit that security warned the Yankees fans to leave him alone. But he said the fans "viciously attacked and physically assaulted" him when he went to a concession stand. According to the lawsuit, Hillios suffered serious injuries. It seeks unspecified financial penalties.
Although The Sun is reporting that Hilios is asking for $75,000 in damages. Because the Yankees know that "emotions run high" at Yankees-Red Sox games, they should protect rival fans, he said. Not as serious as this, or even this. However, it should be a fun trial. Of course, Yankee fans on the New York Daily News message board are contrite, and doing whatever they can to calm the situation: "Red Sucks fans should go through an i.q detector before entering Yankee Stadium." — steveiny Aug 5, 2008 10:21:22 PM Red Sox Fan Sues Yankees, Fans For Treatment [Hartford Current] Red Sox Fan Sues Yankees Over Assault [New York Sun]
